A weaker base table
needs a bigger jackpot.
These are the natural royal jackpots that reach a 100% return on six specific pay tables, at $1.25 a qualifying hand. The best play adapts to the meter. Keeping the ordinary 800-for-1 strategy needs a bigger jackpot on all six.
“Break-even” means the expected gross return equals the bet, before any outside costs, taxes or rewards. It isn’t a budget or the amount to bring. These figures assume the bet qualifies for the full jackpot and the complete pay table shown in the calculator.
An 8/5 progressive can beat fixed 9/6 before it breaks even.
At a $2,000 royal and $1.25 a hand, 8/5 Jacks or Better with the strategy adjusted returns 99.5917%. That’s slightly more than fixed 9/6 at 99.5439% with an 800-for-1 royal. Both still have a house edge.
At a smaller $1,750 meter, the same 8/5 progressive returns only 98.9836%. The fixed 9/6 game is then the better return.
