Varying the initial bet
A counter may wager more when the estimated advantage is favorable and less when it is not. The change follows information about the remaining cards, rather than a recent win or loss.
A bet spread is the ratio between the smallest and largest initial bets. A $10–$80 spread is 1 to 8. That describes the stakes; it does not tell you whether those stakes are profitable or affordable. There is no universal “bet this much at +2” rule.
